![]() Season 16 begins January 18 and accompanies our latest Diablo III patch. December has 12 more days before the month ends - which makes me wonder… what else is coming? So far she has posted two blogs: the PTR 2.6.4 blog and now the Season of Grandeur blog. One thing to note is that Nevalistis told Rhykker at BlizzCon “We are not done with Diablo III” and that she had still to post multiple blogs. That means you can equip an extra Legendary item to replace one set item, and use a different legendary power as Ring of Royal Grandeur doesn’t stack with the Season of Grandeur bonus. There are also different sets with a different degree of usefulness for different builds, so you still have some variety.Ī possible fix without canning the ring altogether could be that it only works on one set.Blizzard Entertainment announced that Diablo III Season 16 will begin on January 18th, allowing Season characters to equip a full set bonus with one less set item requirement, plus the legendary power of the Ring of Royal Grandeur is applied to your character by default. ![]() ![]() Most if not all the small sets are craftable - that lessens the amount of drop luck you need and allows you to purposefully farm for parts of your gear. You can describe Best in Slot gear as (Class Set pieces +) all the Legendaries with special affixes you need for your build + fill the vacant item slots with as many small set boni as you can. Let me try to point out some positive sides of Grandeur. What's the alternative to the ring though? It basically allowed lightning builds to ignore all but the highest lightning immunities. In my opinion something like Infinity was a worse offender. Stat wise there were actually stronger options - like Chains of Honor. Enigma was just extremely convenient because it gave you access to the most effective mode of transportation and allowed you to equip - in most cases - all of your gear without spending a single point in strength. Maybe Summoners so they can reposition their army instantly but I can't recall any build that required Enigma to work. I don't think Enigma was really that essential to any build. What can they do to fix the situation at this point? Can it be fixed? (Actually I think it's worse than Enigma, since although Enigma empowered classes with an ability that they shouldn't have had, there were still builds that didn't need it.)īlizzard should re-think this ring. Ring of Royal Grandeur, on the other hand, is more like D2's infamous "Enigma" runeword: so essential to the vast majority of end-game builds that characters feel incomplete without it. The Hellfire Ring was a great addition to D3 because it feels like a big bonus, but ultimately players don't feel like obtaining a Hellfire Ring is absolutely necessary. The entire end-game feels balanced around this single item. When a large portion of players are doing nothing but split Act 1 bounties on Normal mode to get this ring, not just once but for every single one of their characters, then something's wrong. Because of that, a specific gameplay "culture" has developed solely for finding it, and that's a little ridiculous. Why didn't they just make all set bonuses have lower requirements? It would have been better in the end.Įvery player feels pressured to wear this ring. In time, I think Blizzard will realize that creating this ring was one of the biggest flubs of Reaper of Souls.
